I'm back on Facebook...but with a few stipulations

About a month ago I decided I had enough with Facebook. You can read my reasons in a previous blog. In summary, I was just tired of the gossip going around from misunderstanding postings and prayer requests. Rather than actually praying for general requests I posted, others used this to begin spreading uninformed gossip concerning me, my family, and my ministry. I closed my account and was determined to just use Twitter to keep up with people.

What I failed to realize at that time was how useful Facebook had been to network with other believers in sharing the Gospel. Other believers who had a passion for seeking the lost and biblically sharing Christ were a great sounding board and accountability partner.

Facebook proved to be a great location to keep up to date with outreaches others were planning as well. While unable to attend each of them I was at least aware of the options to team up with others.

I decided to return to Facebook but with a few stipulations and personal limitations. Here are just a few:

1) Limit my “friends” to other believers whom I either already know or have communicated with before.
2) Remove “friends” who have either caused or contributed to past gossip.
3) Not engage in useless, divisive banter. If anyone desires to discuss tertiary doctrinal issues they may do so with me through email.
4) Immediately remove myself from any “Group” that can hinder the presentation of the Gospel.

With these and a few other guidelines I am happy to be back on Facebook. I have decreased my “Friends” list by almost half and will entertain future requests depending on the persons profile and how they might answer a few questions I have.

I had also previously deleted the “Intrepid Evangelist” group prior to closing my account. I will be recreating this group in the near future but all who join it will be required to review the "Group Agreement" to ensure it is not used in an unbiblical and/or divisive manner.

Thank you to those who kept up with me during this short hiatus. May God be glorified in our service to Him.

A slave of the Savior,
Pastor Adam

  1. Some of the gossip can get absolutely ridiculous on that website. People can also take it far too seriously. I pretty much only use it for fun and also to keep in touch with friends in a way that's sometimes more convenient than email.
